Having a Glass in Venice
Carmen Quintos
I'm a Portland-based teenager and Macalester College student with a passion for painting. Outside of making art for pleasure and doing commissions, I've done a lot of unofficial freelance work, including designing company logos and promotional flyers, fundraiser/non-profit t-shirts and stickers, event invitations, and more. I love colorful patterns, interesting faces, bizarre landscapes, and eggs. I tend to blend realism, surrealism, and abstractionism in my acrylic and sometimes mixed-media paintings in order to satisfy all of these artistic elements. This is why, more often than not, my paintings are dreamlike and full of color. I shamelessly strive for chaos because nothing makes me happier than weirding people out. My ideal painting will puzzle the viewer just enough so they'll be left thinking "what IS the message???!!" without being too overwhelming that it takes away from the beauty.
