No Means Yes
Oliver Kautter is a visual artist based in downtown Portland, Oregon. Oliver grew up in Reading, Pennsylvania, but spent much of his young life drawn to the energy and personality of urban life. Spending time in the city seeking culture and purpose shaped his personality, interests and artwork. Oliver earned his Bachelor’s Degree of Fine Arts at Kutztown University of Pennsylvania in 2014. After finishing school, Oliver started his new life in Santa Fe, New Mexico, studying and working under painter and bookmaker Christopher Benson, while embarking on a new body of independent work. After a year experiencing the desert and the Santa Fe art community, Oliver, decidedly an activist, moved Northwest to Portland, Oregon, seeking a bigger city in which his work could be more genuinely focused on social and political current events. In Portland, his work has been published in Literary and Arts Journals, has been featured in two solo exhibitions in addition to juried group shows, and was selected to contribute to a collection of thematic murals in North Portland. Oliver seeks to be a voice through reason and equity and live a meaningful existence through visual expression.
