Noodle Knit by Amy Wike
Amy Wike is a Portland-based artist and a lifelong knitter. Known for her playful and colorful style, Wike examines the realm of visual communication and candidly addresses topics that might otherwise seem abstract or difficult. She regularly facilitates public programming including knitting and watercolor workshops, artist talks, and community discussions.
Knitting is comforting and deeply personal to Wike after learning the craft from her mother as a child as well as having knitting needles passed down from her grandmother. She uses knitting in her gift-giving, for self-expression, and as a way to connect with others. This playful piece shows one of the signature dishes of my childhood, spaghetti and meatballs, being knit up with the key ingredient (a little heart).
