Janet is an abstract artist and graphic designer originally from LA but now calls Portland home. Her work merges her enduring love for doodling and abstract art. Memories and landscapes are transformed into organic compositions of doodles and color within the realm of abstraction.
Ventana is the Spanish word for window. In her childhood home in Los Angeles, her bedroom window stretched as wide as the wall, offering a panoramic view of the family’s patio and her mother's cherished garden. This piece encapsulates a series of cherished recollections centered around gazing out of that ventana: moments of reverie, marveling at her mother's green thumb, inhaling the fragrance of her flowers juxtaposed with the urban essence of Mid-City Los Angeles. Adorned with trinkets and mementos, her windowsill boasted bottles filled with sand and water from beloved beaches alongside an array of stones and crystals. This painting embodies the essence of "home" to Janet, blending nostalgia and imagination together.
