Full time RN, part time doodler, Mayuri Naidoo (aka noodsxdoods) is a South African-American, self taught digital illustrator who loves all things cute. In her daily life, she is a bachelor-prepared RN with experiences in hospice and home care, passionate about working with older adults and those at the end of life. Mayuri makes efforts to create detailed and inclusive pieces that may make viewers laugh, but also feel seen.
When Mayuri thinks of “homegrown”, she immediately thinks of community. She used her own backyard as a reference and created an idealized garden, filled with cute little cats cultivating their little community together. She wanted to create something that would make the viewer smile and think about how to continue to foster their own community. Her own personal goal is to make this art piece a reality (maybe with slightly less cats) and transform her backyard into a fun space to gather all the fun, friendly, and supportive people in her life.
