Farm to Table - Daren Todd
Daren Todd is a Portland, OR, based creative whose artistic practice focuses on painting, murals and digital illustration. He owns Art Larger Than Me, an ever-evolving art firm that serves as an extension of his practice and encompasses community engagement and events, teaching, facilitating, and of course, creating art. Daren’s work focuses on abstract expressionism and graphic portraiture, and the juxtaposition of both styles into cohesive paintings, murals and illustrations. While Daren’s work ranges a few different styles, all of his pieces feature bright color palettes and bold clean lines. Daren has produced a handful of murals around the Portland metro area and is also a teaching artist at Pacific Crest Community School, working with 6th through 12th grade students. Aside from visual creative work, Daren is also an accomplished musician and music producer and works with Its Future Time record label in Portland to release self produced music in a jazz based, hip-hop genre.
For this year’s On The Ledge art show Daren wanted to create a design to specifically represent Blanchet House and Farm. He wanted to highlight Blanchet House’s free hot meal program and Blanchet Farm’s Residential Recovery program. Finding sustainable ways to support each other as community members in a vibrant growing city is a meaningful action that he believes is so important to prioritize.
