Hitting Rock Bottom - Charles (Rob) Moody
Charles (Rob) Moody is a recovering heroin addict who has struggled throughout his life to find comfort with himself without chemical dependency. What he had come to know and understand during the dark times and rock bottoms, was that even the darkest regions still have even darker corners. Rob has been interested in art throughout his entire life but always seemed to be preoccupied with doing things that he knew to be wrong. Rob became clean on April 15, 2019. Since then, he has been able to use art as a way to articulate in ways that he otherwise could not. While recovering at the Blanchet Farm, he was blessed with the opportunity to showcase his creativity through murals and paintings. Art has allowed him to uncover and discover great things about himself that I never knew existed.
The piece is entitled "Hitting Bottom." This piece was inspired by the place Rob found himself at a point in his life. He was alone on the streets filled with emptiness and contempt. This image is when he discovered what the word humility truly means. After battling addiction from a young age, Rob spent 9 months at the Blanchet Farm and has been clean and sober since 2019.
