The Journey is Long - Elaine Daggett Aye
Elaine looks to connect her love of the environment through her artistic approach to landscapes and nature scenes. Many of the images captured are inspired by birding, cycling, and hiking experiences around the Pacific Northwest. She enjoys working with pastel, oil, and watercolor depicting the natural environment as they experience and see it. The value of each work provides the form and color provides the emotion. She will continue to focus on shapes, values, rhythm, and patterns either intentionally or unintentionally. The painting eventually takes shape and she often revisits a painting multiple times over a period of weeks before she knows that it is finished.
As a native Oregonian and a Portlander for the past 27 years, Elaine has grown to love the unique culture that Portland has to offer. This includes the (People) who work, live, and play in our city and the animal (Places) species that inhabit our city along with the greater metropolitan area. The natural beauty of our state and the great outdoors provides the opportunity to get away to the many (Places) that Oregon has to offer.
